According to The Family Place Board of Director member and volunteer Emily Maduro,

“One of my favorite parts of the holidays is having my friends and family gather around the table for a delicious meal. For victims of family violence, pleasant times like this may not be a part of their holiday memories, but The Family Place helps them create new ones. The Family Place ensures that all families in their care can enjoy time around the table over a nutritious meal during the holidays and beyond.
“The Family Place is the largest provider of emergency shelter for victims of family violence in North Texas, and now that they operate three shelters, food costs have increased significantly. Daily, clients receive three healthy meals and two nutritious snacks at an average cost of $2 per meal. Because they are serving so many more clients, the food budget increased from $193,925 in 2016 to $271,506 in 2017. The projected food budget for 2018 is $308,566.
“We need your help to ensure all the families in The Family Place’s care this holiday season can enjoy a peaceful family dinner, something they may not have had in many years. Please donate today at www.familyplace.org to provide healthy meals for victims of family violence and to help them create new holiday memories.
