East Dallas resident Todd Howard is making a return run at chairing the Dallas Arboretum’s Tour Des Fleurs on Saturday, September 20. Once again the 10K/20K race will start and end at the Dallas Arboretum and commence around White Rock Lake.
With nearly 3,000 runners taking place, the translation is that the roads around White Rock will be a bit of a traffic jam for vehicles, so think about putting off a leisurely drive around the lake until later in the day.
However, consider heading to the Arboretum for “the opening of Autumn at the Arboretum.”
BTW, if you’re looking for Dallas Arboretum staffer Karen Reardon to be once again orchestrating the event, you’re gonna be surprised. She’s literally hanging up her race-managing shoes due to doctor’s order. Picking up the baton from Karen will be Dana Murrell.
According to Karen, “Eight years ago, Dallas Arboretum President Mary Brinegar asked me to coordinate the promotion, printing, budgeting, in-kind donations, volunteers, etc. for this new run, which benefits the Arboretum’s programs. I’ve been doing this for so long, but it’s now time for me to pass the baton to Dana because with recent stress fractures in my legs, I must be temporarily off my feet.”
But don’t go waving bye-bye to Karen. She’ll “still continue to work at the Arboretum” as the Hoffman Family Gift Store buyer.
