This morning it was announced that after nearly nine months of searching for Jay Dunn‘s replacement  as President and CEO of The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, Interim CEO Dr. David Woody III would take on the  position permanently.

When The Bridge Board of Directors Chair Lynn McBee revealed the news in The Bridge’s cafeteria to the staff and supporters like Jennifer Karol, Casey McManemin, John Castle, Tom Lynn and Bill Barnett of the “homeless recovery center,” she got as far as “Chief…” and the room erupted in cheers.

Later Lynn admitted that she could have announced he was named “Chief Anything” and the reaction would have been the same.

And it’s no wonder with a review of his credentials that include “a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Dartmouth College, Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth
University. He began his service at The Bridge in June 2015 as Chief Services Officer, which included
oversight of the programs and services for guests engaged in recovery from homelessness.”

According to Lynn, “Because of his history of providing and serving in a leadership role directing a variety of services to homeless populations, Dr. Woody is the right choice for our organization. He has served in many other professional capacities with many diverse populations, including work with children, adolescents, couples and families from low-income communities, as well as various ethnic, racial and gender populations.”
