Not only did the Mavs suffer the loss of Luka on the court to the Lakers, but the back office seems to have lost a whirlwind of dynamic energy with Cynt Marshall stepping down from her position as the team’s CEO.

It was during her tenure that she tapped such organizations as the Mavs, the Dallas Regional Chamber and area non-profits like Dallas CASA and the T.D. Jakes Foundation to help provide resources for people to succeed.
Since leaving office, she hasn’t taken a world cruise. Rather, she’s probably been expanding her trophy shelf that already includes Genesis Women’s Shelter’s Jane Doe Award, Texas Woman’s University’s Virginia Chandler Dykes Award, Girls Scouts Of Northeast Texas’ Lifetime Achievement Award and Wings’ Corporate Woman Of The Year, to name just a few.
In taking her victory lap of honors, she is scheduled to receive the Texas Women’s Foundation’s 2025 Maura Women Helping Women Award on Thursday, May 8.
And now, word has just arrived that Cynt will be honored at SMU’s 2025 J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award luncheon on Monday, April 14, at SMU’s Armstrong Fieldhouse benefiting the Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility.
Named after the late Dallas Mayor J. Erik Jonsson, the Ethics award is “given to individuals who epitomize the spirit of moral leadership and public virtue.”
According to Maguire Center Director Rita Kirk, “Cynt Marshall exemplifies the type of ethical leadership that the J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award seeks to honor — leadership rooted in service, integrity and a genuine commitment to others.
“As Cynt starts the next phase of her journey, we’re confident that her leadership will remain dedicated to uplifting people and ensuring that they have the resources they need to succeed.”
The award previously has been presented to Ashlee and Chris Kleinert (2024), Peter S. Brodsky (2023), Michael J. Sorrell (2022), Cary M. Maguire (2021), Ross Perot Jr. (2020), Nancy Strauss Halbreich (2019), Bobby Lyle (2018), David Brown (2017), Terry Flowers (2016), Lyda Hill (2015), Gail G. Thomas (2014), Nancy Ann and Ray L.
