Word was just received that Alan Olson, who has worked for the past 15 years at the Dallas Historical Society, will serve as its Interim Executive Director. Alan has previously served as Director of Collections and Exhibits.
According to Dallas Historical Society Co-Chair Lynn McBee, “I think you will be impressed with his dedication to the Dallas Historical Society as an employee of almost 15 years, his knowledge of our work as well as his passion for our mission.”

Alan has the background, as well as two Bachelors’ and Master’s degree, in Archaeology, History, and Museum Studies. In addition to overseeing the collections of the DHS, he helped design and prepare the displays at the Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture. Alan joined the Dallas Historical Society in 2000. Prior to joining the DHS Alan spent 3 years with the Dallas Natural History Museum as an educator and exhibits coordinator. The previous 15 years were spent as an archaeologist working in the US, Near East, and Pacific Rim. He has published several papers, presented at professional conferences, has grant writing experience; and attended the Seminar for Historical Administration in 2007.
