The annual “Passings” post is always a hard one. It is a reflection of some of the people whose actions and leadership have made North Texas flourish beyond the dreams of its forefathers/mothers. But this year seems to be especially poignant.
Recently someone worried that North Texas had lost an entire tier of legendary philanthropists, benefactors, influencers and role models. They wondered who would ever replace these remarkable people. That concern was understandable. Luckily, as invaluable as these past leaders had been with their pocketbooks, words of wisdom and courage, their footprints were left for others to follow. Hopefully the next generation of generous North Texans will not only continue but be inspired by the following people:

- Herb Kelleher
- Faye Chase Briggs
- Janet DeSanders
- Alan Peppard
- Ross Perot Sr.
- Luke Laufenberg
- T. Boone Pickens
- Mary Lee Cox
- Jim “Jimbob” Graham
- Robert “Bob” Miller
- Carol Reed

Moving into the next decade, let’s tuck their memory in a brain pocket and honor them by building for a better future.
Be safe; be grateful and be sharing.
